Why is there such a difference in prices of the same sized trampoline?
The more expensive trampolines use thicker and heavier materials and those materials are also of a higher quality. Beds differ in the way they are sewn and the quality of the fixing points and webbing straps. Frames differ in diameter, wall thickness, finish and quality of steel used. Frame pads vary enormously in width, thickness, fabric used and fixing systems. Ultimately, as with almost everything, you do get what you pay for.
What's the difference between a round and a rectangular trampoline?
Trampolines were originally designed and built to provide training for high divers and gymnasts. Good performance was vital. Because all the springs on a rectangular trampoline work at a different rate, the response is quick and powerful. You will note that trampolines in sports halls and those used for competitive trampolining are always rectangular. Round trampolines are primarily built for recreational use, so safety and value rather than performance are the main design considerations. What you get with a round trampoline is a big area of bouncy trampoline for your money! What you don't get is true performance!
Are Trampolines dangerous?
In themselves, no! However, as with anything, if used incorrectly, mishaps can occur. All Super Tramp trampolines are supplied with a user guide and from early 2007, a DVD guide to assembly and safe use of your trampoline. If you follow these guidelines, you are highly unlikely to have any problems. Certainly trampolining is much safer than activities such as horseriding, cycling and swimming.
What happens if my trampoline breaks?
Please contact your retailer as soon as possible with full details. If there is a manufacturing fault, it is important that it is identified as soon as possible so that it can be rectified and the component part replaced. To avoid breakages from misuse and excessive wear and tear, please follow the instructions for use to ensure that your trampoline is used correctly. Please appreciate that whilst we stand by our products and will always replace anything that is faulty, many trampoline components are subject to wear and tear. The rate at which components wear is very much affected by the type of use to which the trampoline is subjected. Please refer to the guarantee information on your particular trampoline for more details.
How long do springs last?
In the same way that wear on car tyres is affected by how you drive, so the wear on trampoline springs is affected by the way you bounce. If you don't overload your trampoline and users always bounce in the central area of the bed, your springs will comfortably outlast their warranty period. Land directly onto a spring and you may seriously damage it. Regular landings close to the edge of the bed will also reduce the spring life.
Will I be able to get replacement parts for my trampoline?
Yes. This is a very important part of Super Tramp's business. All of our trampolines are flat-packed, self-assembly and as such we can provide the component parts as spares - the only exceptions being some of our older, discontinued models. We can also custom-make beds and frame pads for other makes of trampolines if required.
Won't my children get bored with trampolining after a few weeks?
Trampolining gets all the body's systems working after just a few bounces and it makes you feel good. Users experience a natural "high" when bouncing. As well as being great exercise, this feeling of euphoria draws people back to the trampoline on a daily basis! Trampolining is one of the few addictions that is legal, healthy and as yet un-taxed!
Can I leave my trampoline outside all year round?
Yes. Whilst some zinc plated components on the budget Springtime range will eventually develop surface rust, they will still be able to do their job for many years. All other steelwork is galvanised or better and all the fabrics are UV stable. The closed cell foam in the frame pads does not absorb water. All the beds are free draining and will dry out quickly. Snow and ice should be removed before bouncing. Trampolines can be blown away in high winds especially when fitted with an BounceArena so we do recommend the use of a tie down kit as a preventative measure.
Can I site my trampoline on sloping ground?
Yes, provided the slope is less than 1 in 7 or 15%. The uphill leg bases can sit in trenches and the downhill legs supported on notched timber blocks. It is important to make sure that there is enough clearance under the bed for people to bounce without "bottoming out".
I don't think I will be able to assemble this myself. Will you put it together for me?
All our trampolines are supplied flat-packed, self-assembly and have detailed assembly instructions to help. If you have bought your goods through a local retailer then they often offer a build service, if not then a general handyman may be able to help. Alternatively there is a company called Screwdriver who specialise in self-assembly products (0208 847 2343).
If someone else's child is hurt using our trampoline, where do we stand legally?
Unless you can be shown to have been negligent or the trampoline is unfit for use - you will not be legally liable. You will usually be covered by your household or contents insurance. If you are in any doubt, we suggest that you refer to your policy document or check with your broker or insurer’s helpline.
Why don't you supply small trampolines with a handle for very small children to hold onto?
Whilst we would not discourage the use of such trampolines, it is only possible for a child to bounce on these bouncers on his or her feet whilst holding onto the handle. There is little or noopportunity for the child to develop balance, co-ordination and spatial awareness – this, we believe, is a very important benefit in a child's development.
My child attends trampoline lessons. Is it safe to let him or her practise on our garden trampoline?
You should take advice from their trampoline coach. They will probably let your child know which moves they are happy for them to do at home. Bear in mind that the garden trampolining environment is very different to that of the club. At home there is no-one to catch you, however being responsible for your own safety does generally concentrate the mind and make for safer trampolining.
Can I site my trampoline on a level patio, concrete or tarmac surface?
The steel frames are designed to sit on a level grass surface where they will bed down. On a smooth, hard surface, the trampoline will move around slightly with each bounce. To prevent wear, it is essential to cushion the leg bases.
Can my trampoline be used indoors?
Yes but you need to consider the following:
The provision of a soft fall area around the trampoline.
